Saudi-Based Calo Secures $39M to Expand Its AI-Driven Meal Platform

Saudi-based foodtech startup Calo has raised an additional $39 million in a Series B extension round, bringing its total funding to $64 million, surpassing its original $50M target. The round was led by AlJazira Capital, with participation from Nuwa Capital, STV, Khwarizmi Ventures, Al Faisaliah Group, and Oraseya Capital.

With this new funding, Calo plans to accelerate its global expansion, integrate its recent acquisitions—Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen—and scale its proprietary AI-driven personalization and operational tools. The company is also piloting “Calo Black,” an AI-powered virtual chef that uses LLMs to chat with users and generate customized daily meal plans.

Founded in 2019, Calo offers personalized meal subscriptions tailored to individual health goals. The company is expanding its portfolio to include macro-based meals for athletes, premium chef-curated dishes, and broader clean eating options—all while embedding AI across its customer and backend systems to elevate efficiency and personalization.
