Saudi mobile game developer FLOATY Studio has raised $1 million through the Merak Gaming Fund (MGF), backed by Merak Capital, underscoring investor confidence in the Kingdom’s growing gaming sector. The round signals rising momentum for Saudi studios building original intellectual property aimed at international markets rather than staying confined to domestic audiences.
Founded in 2023, FLOATY Studio specializes in mobile games designed around accessible gameplay and long-term player retention, with ambitions to compete globally rather than remain a regional player. The investment comes through Merak Capital’s dedicated gaming fund, created to support promising Saudi gaming startups and strengthen the Kingdom’s broader game development ecosystem. MGF has already backed several local studios as part of its push to accelerate homegrown gaming IP.
Merak Capital noted that the deal reflects Saudi Arabia’s rise as an increasingly attractive hub for gaming entrepreneurship, part of a wider trend of investors funding local studios with global growth potential. Dedicated gaming funds are giving Saudi developers the capital needed to build original content, recruit talent, and compete internationally.
FLOATY Studio’s next test will be converting this funding into commercially successful titles that resonate beyond Saudi Arabia, helping determine whether the Kingdom becomes a genuine global game development center or remains primarily a consumption market.
