Qatar’s Aligator raises $1.2 million

Qatar-based AI startup Aligator has raised $1.2 million in seed funding to develop its agentic AI platform for the public relations industry. The funding round was led by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and Next Ventures, a fund by Media City Qatar, with participation from private investors.

Founded in 2025 by Ali Abbas and a team of Qatar Foundation alumni, Aligator is building AI agents that automate everyday public relations tasks. The platform can help teams draft and distribute press materials, monitor media coverage, find relevant journalists and media outlets, and manage outreach.

The startup was founded by graduates of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and Texas A&M University at Qatar. Aligator is incorporated in Media City Qatar and licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre.

Aligator focuses on reducing the repetitive work involved in PR. This includes tracking media coverage, creating media lists, preparing routine press materials and managing follow-ups with journalists.
