Startups to get up to $5.5M to set up in Qatar

The Startup Qatar Investment Program, run by Qatar Development Bank (QDB), offers technology startups funding of up to $5.5 million, along with support for setting up and growing their businesses in Qatar.

The program has two funding options. START offers up to $1.1 million to early-stage startups that have developed a proof of concept or minimum viable product (MVP). GROW offers up to $5.5 million to established startups looking to expand into Qatar.

Both options release funding in stages based on agreed milestones rather than paying the full amount upfront.

Beyond funding, eligible startups can receive support with company registration, license renewals, work visas, office space, recruitment and training. The program also offers access to mentoring, research and development grants, industry connections and business events.

The initiative aims to ease startup entry into Qatar. It also reduces setup costs and helps startups connect with customers and partners.

For founders looking to expand across the Gulf, the program combines investment with practical business support. Its success will depend on attracting startups that build local teams, secure customers and establish long-term operations in Qatar.
