Egyptian Fintech Fawry Secures $10.8 Million MSMEDA Financing To Expand SME And Microenterprise Lending

Egyptian digital financial services provider Fawry has secured a $10.8 million (EGP 550 million) financing facility for its subsidiary, Fawry MSME Finance, from Egypt’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA). The deal expands access to credit for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, supporting Egypt’s push toward greater financial inclusion.

Founded in 2008, Fawry is a digital-only financial services platform serving both banked and unbanked customers across Egypt. The facility splits $5.9 million (EGP 300 million) toward microenterprises and $4.9 million (EGP 250 million) toward small and medium-sized businesses, channeled through Fawry’s digital lending platform, which uses data-driven credit assessments to speed up access to working capital and expansion financing.

CEO Ashraf Sabry said the platform will let Fawry extend faster, more accessible financing to enterprises across all governorates, supporting new ventures and business expansion alike, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals.

The deal underscores fintech’s growing role in reaching underserved businesses in a lending space historically dominated by banks, while advancing MSMEDA’s mandate to formalize Egypt’s private sector and expand entrepreneurs’ access to capital, incentives, and new markets.
