Oraseya Capital, the investment arm of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), now manages a venture capital fund of USD 272.3 million (AED 1 billion). The fund was previously USD 136.2 million (AED 500 million). As a result, it can finance more high-growth companies and back their expansion into regional and global markets.
What changed at Oraseya Capital
DIEZ raised the fund’s maximum investment per company from USD 3 million to USD 6 million (AED 22 million). Larger tickets let Oraseya Capital join bigger financing rounds and back companies at later stages of growth.
In addition, the mandate now extends beyond Series B and includes international businesses relevant to the UAE. The fund currently has 66 active portfolio companies.
DIEZ Executive Chairman Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni said the larger fund will enable bigger investments and help more companies grow and reach global markets.
Oraseya Capital’s investment focus
The fund will prioritize emerging technologies:
- Healthcare and longevity
- Fintech
- Digital assets
- Artificial intelligence
Its existing portfolio also spans proptech, media and advertising, marketing technology, sustainability, digital commerce and education technology. Combined, these companies have raised USD 1.1 billion and generate USD 387 million in annual recurring revenue.
Why the expansion matters for startups
More capital is now available to startups and growth-stage companies seeking funding through Dubai. Moreover, the wider mandate reaches businesses beyond those directly tied to the UAE.
The move also supports the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to strengthen the emirate’s position as a global business hub and develop future-focused industries.
